Who can help my town or city with grant applications?

Western Illinois Regional Council (WIRC) is both a nonprofit organization that helps local residents and a regional planning council, recognized as an Economic Development District (EDD). More than eighty western Illinois cities, villages, and counties are members of WIRC's EDD, paying dues to help support the community development work needed in our region.

WIRC helps its member agencies apply for federal and state grants for both public infrastructure needs and housing rehabilitation. The Agency also manages many of the grants it helps agencies secure, reducing the administrative burden on its member organizations.

WIRC can also sometimes assist with applications for purchasing equipment such as emergency vehicles.

If your community needs help developing infrastructure or rehabilitating housing, please ask a local official to contact WIRC to discuss the need.

WIRC does not have the capacity to write grants for other nonprofit organizations in the region.
